Ty Simpson recognized as SEC Player of the Week after Missouri win

Alabama’s Ty Simpson was named the Southeastern Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.

The weekly accolade is the second for Simpson in the last three weeks, raising the Crimson Tide’s total to six weekly awards so far this season.

  • Led Alabama to a third consecutive top-25 win as the Tide downed 14th-ranked Missouri, 27-24, in Columbia
  • Finished 23-of-31 for 200 yards and three scores through the air
  • Connected with nine different targets in the game
  • Completed three passes on fourth down to help UA finish a perfect 3-of-3, including the Tide’s final touchdown late in the fourth quarter that would prove to be the difference
  • Added 10 rushes, including a team-long 20-yard run

The Alabama coaching staff announced its players of the week on Sunday. In addition to “skill” and “power” players on offense and defense, the Tide also recognizes scout-team players.
