In 38 days, Alabama and Florida State will kick off the 2025 season in Tallahassee, Florida. When the Crimson Tide takes the field at Doak Campbell Stadium, it will face a pair of former UA players who now suit up for the Seminoles, Earl Little Jr. and Roydell Williams.

Little was at ACC Kickoff in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday morning and was asked if Game 1 of the upcoming season has a little more juice for him, given his time at Alabama.

“Nah, I don’t find it as anything extra,” Little said, according to Warchant. “But it’s definitely gonna be fun for the guys. I’m excited for a new challenge, an opportunity.”

Now a redshirt junior, Little transferred to Florida State last offseason after Nick Saban retired from coaching. In 2024, Little appeared in all 12 games for the Seminoles and finished with 15 tackles. He switched from the nickel defensive back position to safety midway through his first season at FSU and was later named the Special Teams Newcomer of the Year.

Before moving back to his home state, Little spent two seasons at Alabama, where he played in 11 total games. After playing in the first nine games of the 2023 campaign, Little suffered a torn labrum during his final year in Tuscaloosa. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native committed to the Tide as a top-100 recruit in the 2022 class, per the Rivals Industry Rankings.

In a little over a month, Little will face his former team on his new home field in what will be one of the top Week 1 matchups. Does that kind of game change FSU’s approach to fall camp?

“We look at is any other game,” Little said. “I feel like the game is just practice with spectators surrounding us. So, we’re gonna approach it the same as any other week. We’re just gonna have to do what we have to do — go play football. There ain’t nothing to it.”

The Alabama-Florida State contest is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC on August 30. Also speaking at ACC Kickoff, head coach Mike Norvell looked forward to the game.

“It’s an exciting time in Tallahassee,” Norvell said in Charlotte. “We’ve got a great kickoff here August 30 with Alabama coming into town, and this football team, it is hungry, and it is bringing that daily edge in all things that we’re doing.”
