What Kalen DeBoer said on College GameDay ahead of Alabama-Georgia

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer joined the College GameDay set on Saturday morning. At the Georgia World Congress Center, DeBoer previewed the SEC Championship Game matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs, which is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. CT and air live on ABC.

Alongside Kirby Smart, Nick Saban and the rest of the crew, here is everything DeBoer said.

DeBoer on the tweaks, changes you make in a rematch…

“I think a lot of it has to do with how long ago that game was played. Both of our teams have players that have continued to evolve, and they really, truly understand your identity. And that was 10 weeks ago when we played. And so, yeah, there’s a lot of things that you learn from that game, things that you’ll take and apply, but it’s its own game. Every play is its own play, and this is its own game.”

DeBoer on how Alabama, Georgia are different from the last meeting…

“I think when I look at both of our teams, there’s a lot of young players that now are making plays on both sides of the ball. And I think that you see the efficiency maybe of their offense, and just who’s involved and who’s getting the carries more now and who are the targets. And so, the same thing for us. There’s a different rotation of guys. And again, like I said earlier, everything’s evolved. We’ve figured out who we are, what we hang our hat on, and that’s what it’s going to take today.”

DeBoer on if he feels like his team is ready for the situation…

“Yeah, I mean, we wouldn’t be here if we didn’t feel that way. And Ty is a great example. First year starting and just the things he’s gone through. The experiences together as a team. We’re a team that plays off each other — offense, defense, special teams. Everyone pulls their weight. We’re counting on each other. I just love the way that they trust each other. And you wouldn’t be in this spot going through the gauntlet, like you said, without that kind of a belief.”
