Alabama already made the rounds at SEC Media Days on Wednesday, July 16, but there was still plenty said about the Crimson Tide on Day 4 of the event at the Omni Atlanta Hotel. To end things on Thursday, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri and Texas A&M took the stage.

Below is a roundup of what opposing coaches and players said about UA at SEC Media Days.

Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz

On new Missouri safety Jalen Catalon…

“Coach (Nick) Saban all summer, he calls and does scouting reports with all the head coaches. Not to get back into coaching, want to clear that up for Greg McElroy. Does that to make sure he has an edge on the competition. First person he asked about was Jalen Catalon. He said, Man, that guy has played a lot of really good football. You could see that in the spring, the instinctual…”

On the ‘something to prove’ mindset he adopted in 2023…

“If you get caught up, Coach Saban calls it rat poison. I think it’s rat poison either way. Praise and blame are both the same. You can’t care about it either way.”

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko

On former Alabama tight end Amari Niblack, who transferred to A&M…

“Amari Niblack was an interesting one because he spent time with Coach Holmon Wiggins at Alabama. When he decided to enter the portal, there was some familiarity more so what he had done when he was at Alabama.

“We feel like he’s a hybrid kid that adds an awful lot of value in what he can do in the receiving game. He was a great addition for our program.”

Kentucky tight end Josh Kattus

On former Alabama wide receiver Kendrick Law, who transferred to UK…

“Another guy, Kendrick Law from Alabama, another stud. He’s really strong in the weight room. Probably lifts just as much as most offensive linemen. He’s really fast, makes plays when the ball is in the air.”

Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York

On the boost that Kyle Field provides for the defense…

“It really helps the offense out. It hurts the opposing offense as well. I saw for the first time we played Alabama my freshman year, that was back when Coach Saban was coaching as well so you know they’ll be extremely disciplined. They had like six or seven false starts versus us. I think at one point it was like third and 28. I’m like, how is it all possible? It’s all through the 12th man.”
