Alabama basketball suffered a difficult loss on Saturday night in its only game last week, falling 96-75 in Birmingham at the hands of No. 1 Arizona.

The loss caused the Crimson Tide to drop in this week’s AP Poll from its previous spot of No. 12, where it had been ranked for the past two polls. In the updated poll, Alabama fell to No. 16.

The SEC has seven ranked teams in this week’s poll, but Alabama is no longer the top-ranked team in the league. The Tide now comes behind No. 13 Vanderbilt and No. 14 Arkansas, while ahead of No. 20 Tennessee, No. 21 Auburn, No. 22 Florida and No. 25 Georgia.

All three of Alabama’s losses this season have come at the hands of teams ranked in the top-10: No. 1 Arizona, No. 6 Purdue and No. 7 Gonzaga. The Tide has wins over two currently ranked teams: No. 18 Illinois and No. 22 St. John’s.

Alabama has two unranked opponents on deck this week, South Florida on Wednesday and Kennesaw State on Sunday. Tipoff for Wednesday night’s game is set for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
