The AP Top 25 Poll released its preseason men’s basketball rankings Monday morning, and the Alabama Crimson Tide, ahead of Year 7 with head coach Nate Oats, checked in at No. 15.

It marks the fifth year in a row that Alabama basketball has been ranked before the season.

The Crimson Tide welcomed back five players from last year’s Elite Eight team and added four transfers and four true freshmen, who made up the No. 7 signing class in 2025, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Oats believes he has a high-powered roster in Tuscaloosa.

“I like where our guys are at,” Oats said last week. “I think they’re competing hard. They’re picking up how we want to play. I think we’ve got the potential to be the best shooting team since we’ve had here. We’ve been shooting it pretty well.”

Alabama was one of six schools from the Southeastern Conference among the AP’s top 25 teams heading into the 2025-26 basketball season, along with No. 3 Florida, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 14 Arkansas, No. 18 Tennessee and No. 20 Auburn.  The Tide also plays No. 1 Purdue, No. 5 St. John’s, No. 13 Arizona, No. 17 Illinois and No. 21 Gonzaga before beginning conference play.

After exhibitions against Florida State (in Birmingham) and on the road at Furman, Alabama’s 2025-26 season will tip off on Monday, Nov. 3, against North Dakota at Coleman Coliseum.
