5-star guard Chance Westry commits to Auburn
Chance Westry, an On3 consensus five-star guard in the 2022 class, has committed to Auburn.
Westry, now at Compass Prep in Arizona, announced his decision Sunday. He chose Auburn over LSU, Nebraska, Arizona State, Maryland, Southern Cal, Washington and Florida, among others.
“Auburn is amazing,” Westry said.
He should know. Westry took an official visit to Auburn in June and then returned for another official visit this weekend.
“Coach (Bruce) Pearl is a great guy,” Westry said. “He’s a tremendous guy. He’s very, very knowledgeable and loves the game. He’s very accepting and treats his players and everyone else great.
“Coach (Ira) Bowman is a great guy, too. He has a great personalty and is a really nice guy. I really like him. He’s also very accepting and loves the game.”

Westry joins Donaldson in AU’s class
Westry, in the On3 consensus rankings, is the No. 30 overall player and No. 7 combo guard in the 2022 class.
Westry, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, is the second commitment for Auburn in 2022. He joins point guard Tre Donaldson, who is committed to Auburn in both football and basketball. Donaldson is a consensus four-star recruit in football, but is expected to make basketball his top priority in college.
Both Westry and Donaldson are expected to sign with Auburn during the early period, which begins Nov. 10.
