Auburn football injury updates: Durell Robinson to miss time

AUBURN — Auburn will be down another running back this week when the Tigers face South Alabama.
UConn transfer Durell Robinson will miss time after what head coach Hugh Freeze called a “freak” injury following Auburn’s 42-3 win over Ball State. Robinson underwent a procedure in Birmingham to remove a collection of blood in his leg Sunday.
“Unfortunately, we lost Darrell for a period of time to a freak injury,” Freeze said. “He didn’t really know he was hurt after the game. Sunday morning, he had a collection of blood like I’ve never seen in all my years coaching on his thigh…They had to do a pretty good incision on it. So, he’s going to be out for a little while.”
Update on Alston
Running back Damari Alston missed the Ball State game after suffering a minor shoulder injury against Baylor. He could be in line to play this weekend against South Alabama, but will likely be a game time decision.

“I know he’s going to try,” Freeze said. “I mean, he’s trying. He went through walk-throughs this morning, but, you know, until you put the pads on and take a hit on it or something, I’m not sure exactly how he feels.”
Should Alston be unable to go, it will be Jeremiah Cobb getting the start for the second consecutive week. Cobb had 121 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 11 carries against Ball State.
McGough trending upward
Despite exiting the game against Ball State, kicker Towns McGough is trending toward being available this weekend. McGough tweaked his ankle on a 52-yard field goal attempt against Ball State and missed the rest of the game.
Southern Miss transfer Connor Gibbs took over kickoff duties for the remainder of time.
