Auburn and head coach Hugh Freeze remain hopeful that wide receiver Cam Coleman will play Saturday against Kentucky.

Coleman limped off the field on his own power in the first half of the win over Arkansas, returning in the second half with his ankle heavily taped. Freeze said in his Monday press conference that Coleman felt much better Monday than he did Sunday.

“We’re hopeful, but obviously don’t know just yet,” Freeze said. “The great thing is it’s not a high-angle sprain. It’s down at the lower part, which those tend to heal quicker. So we’re hopeful, but, again, don’t really know at this point.”

Auburn expected to regain running back

In positive news, the Tigers are in line to get running back Durell Robinson back this weekend against Kentucky.

Robinson had missed the last six games after having a collection of blood removed from his leg following the Ball State game.

“Medical staff feels like he’s back this week,” Freeze said. “So I feel like Durrell is ready to go, which will obviously give us more depth there.”

Tigers seeking medical redshirt for Horatio Fields

The possibility of a return this season for wide receiver Horatio Fields remains up in the air. Fields broke his foot in late September during a Tuesday practice.

The transfer from Wake Forest, who caught 12 passes for 106 yards and one touchdown before going down with an injury, is still not running or working. However, Freeze feels confident that Auburn can get Fields a medical redshirt.

“Hopefully we do feel like we can get him a red shirt, which would be huge for us next year to have him back,” Freeze said. “He’s an incredible leader, an incredible young man, and a heck of a player. We can’t file that until after the season, but I think it’s a pretty good case that he would get his back.”

Auburn kicks off against Kentucky at 6:30 p.m. CST Saturday on SEC Network.
