Auburn's SEC opponents announced for 2026-2029

The SEC announced Auburn’s conference opponents for for the next four seasons Tuesday.
With the conference moving to a nine-game schedule, each team has three annual opponents and six rotating conference opponents. Auburn faces Alabama, Georgia and Vanderbilt annually beginning in 2026, as On3’s Chris Low first reported.
SEC programs are also required to schedule at least one opponent per season from the Atlantic Coast, Big Ten, Big 12 conferences or Notre Dame.
Here are the opponents that Auburn faces for the next four seasons, with annual opponents listed in bold.

How annual opponents were determined
The SEC used several factors to determine annual opponents. Traditional rivalries, historical matchups, geography, competitive fairness and alignment with non-conference commitments were all consulted.
When looking at the complete layout of annual opponents within the conference, 80% of annual opponents are in the same or contiguous state. All three of Auburn’s annual opponents fall within this category.
Auburn is 157 miles from Alabama, 181 miles from Georgia and 302 miles from Vanderbilt. The league average of distance between annual opponents is 281 miles.

Annual opponents will be evaluated every four years to ensure competitive balance.
How the six-team rotation works
Over the next four years, Auburn faces each non-annual SEC opponent twice — split between one home game and one away game. Competitive balance also went into determining the six-team rotation.
With nine conference games, eight SEC schools host five conference games in 2026, while the other eight host four conference games. This alternates each year to ensure competitive balance.
Annual non-conference rivalry games contributed in determining the home and away designation for 2026. (i.e. Florida-Florida State, South Carolina-Clemson, Georgia-Georgia Tech, Kentucky-Louisville).
Scheduling was also designed to favor seven home games for each SEC program, contingent on three non-conference opponents played at home. Exceptions for this included Georgia-Florida (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Oklahoma-Texas (Dallas, Texas).
