BREAKING: 4-star DB Anquon Fegans commits to Auburn
Four-star safety Anquon Fegans, who is ranked as one of the top overall recruits in the country, has committed to Auburn.
Fegans, who attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala., announced his decision Monday during a ceremony in Birmingham. He chose Auburn over Georgia, LSU and Clemson, among others.
In the end, staying home and representing his state was a big factor in his decision.
“I mean, why not stay home and build something special in this state,” he told Auburn Live. “The best stay home.”
Another big factor was Auburn safeties coach Charles Kelly. The two have developed a strong bond throughout Kelly’s recruitment of Fegans, which dates back to the coach’s time at Colorado and Alabama.
“We have a great relationship,” Fegans said. “He’s a great guy. I’ve been knowing him since I was in the eighth grade, so that played a big factor in it.”
So did Hugh Freeze.
“Me and Coach Freeze, we talk,” Fegans said. “We text each other back and forth every day. He sends me quotes every day. (He is a) great coach, great guy, player’s coach. He’s just going to let you be you when you’re there.”
Fegans is the 21st commitment in the Tigers’ class and second of the day. In-state four-star athlete Derick Smith flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn earlier on Monday.

The Tigers since Saturday also have added Class of 2025 commitments from four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman, who flipped his commitment from Alabama, and four-star cornerback Blake Woodby, as well as Kohl’s Kicking five-star punter John Alan McGuire.
Fegans is the second commitment in Auburn’s ’25 class from powerhouse Thompson High School (McGuire). The Tigers have a chance to add a third on Saturday when four-star edge Jared Smith announces his commitment. Auburn is the overwhelming favorite for him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power on Fegans
“Anquon Fegans is one of the most polished defensive backs in the 2025 cycle. He has good size and length at around 6-foot-0.5, 185 pounds.
“Fegans has been a complete ball hawk throughout his career at Thompson. He’s an interception machine, picking off nine passes as a junior. His ball skills and instincts are excellent and his background playing corner helps him in man coverage.
“Fegans also has the physical traits to be a strong run defender and tackler. I wouldn’t be shocked if he is able to get on the field early in his career on the Plains, given his level of polish and development.”
