Elijah Melendez, Kail Ellis named Freshman All-SEC
Two Auburn true freshmen made the Freshman All-SEC Team, the conference announced Thursday.
Linebacker Elijah Melendez and center Kail Ellis have earned the honor, as Auburn’s added to its list of postseason honors.
Melendez, who’s from Kissimmee, Fla., played in all 12 games for Auburn this season, recording 29 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and two interceptions. His top performance came against Georgia, as the freshman tallied six tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in the game.

In the Kentucky game, Melendez intercepted his first career pass. He returned his second interception of the season for a touchdown against Mercer.
Ellis, who’s from Canton, Ga., earned significant playing time after starter Connor Lew suffered a torn ACL. The youngest player at the FBS level, Ellis earned his first career start on the road against Arkansas. Auburn rushed for 230 yards in the 33-24 win over the Razorbacks.
