Junior college power forward Addarin Scott has committed to Auburn basketball.

Scott, who is from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, announced his decision Friday on social media. He chose the Tigers over South Florida, Lamar, Texas A&M-Commerce and Alabama State.

“War Eagle!,” Scott told Auburn Live. “It feels great to be an Auburn Tiger.”

Scott’s decision comes two days after leaving an official visit to Auburn and one day after speaking with Auburn coach Bruce Pearl.

“Coach Pearl called me (Thursday) and gave me some great news,” Scott said. “He told me that he was offering me an official scholarship.”

It was all Scott needed to hear.

“I couldn’t turn that down,” he said. “It felt great, especially for him to take the time out of his day to call and tell me himself. Even just him to recruit me with me being a JUCO kid. I’m very grateful to him for that.”

Pearl and new assistant coach Corey Williams both played major roles in Scott’s decision.

“The coaching staff, just them as people,” he said. “They understand that I haven’t been playing basketball all that long. I just started playing basketball in the eighth grade, so they are ready to develop my game and take it to the next level.”

Official visit was big for Scott

Scott’s visit to Auburn earlier in the week was his first to the Tigers’ campus. The short visit left a big impression.

“It was great,” he said. “It was a great visit. I really liked it and got to see the campus and hang out with the guys. I got to see the football stadium … basically got to see everything and hang out with the team.”

Scott hung out with several of the veteran players on Auburn’s team.

“I hung out with Tre (Donaldson), Jaylin Williams … with most of the returners,” he said. “I liked all of them. They seem like good dudes. I also had great conversations with Coach Pearl and with Coach Williams.”

Corey Williams is the lead recruiter for Scott.

“He’s a great person. He’s very honest,” Scott said. “I really like him. He wants me to play the 4 and the 5.”

Scott, who is listed at 6-foot-9, played in 31 games last year and averaged 9.3 points per game on 53% shooting. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds per game and nearly two blocks. He is originally from Dallas, Texas.

Scott has two years of eligibility and plans to enroll at Auburn as soon as possible.

“I don’t have an exact date, but it will be soon,” he said.
