Greene County (Leakesville, Miss.) wide receiver Jase Mathews has committed to Auburn.

Mathews, who is ranked the No. 2 wide receiver in the country, announced his decision Friday on social media. He chose the Tigers over LSU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

“Auburn is amazing,” Mathews said. “The gameday atmosphere is electric and they have great fans. I also love their coaching staff.”

Mathews is familiar with several members of Auburn’s coaching staff. It starts, though, with wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.

“Coach Davis is an amazing guy,” Mathews said. “Him being a young coach, I feel a good connection with him and also between him and the players. We talk about a lot of things, not just football. We have built a great connection.”

Mathews also has bonds with offensive coordinator Derrick Nix, head coach Hugh Freeze and director of recruiting research and strategy Kenyatta Watson.

“The relationships I’ve built with the coaching staff, Coach Freeze and Coach Davis and Coach Nix, it’s just been great,” he said. “Coach Freeze, he’s a guy who has brought me close and gives me messages about life more than football. I love being around him and Coach Nix.”

Mathews also is friends with Auburn freshman quarterback Deuce Knight and sophomore wideout Cam Coleman.

“Those are my guys,” he said.

Mathews is the 12th commitment in Auburn’s 2026 class and lone wide receiver.

Rivals ranks him the No. 17 overall recruit in the country and No. 4 in Mississippi.
