Stormtroopers in Jordan-Hare: Auburn will wear white jerseys against South Alabama

AUBURN — It’ll be a white-out in the stands and on the field as Auburn hosts South Alabama Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Due to warm, midday September temperatures and Homecoming, Auburn fans have been asked to wear white by the athletic department’s marketing team, and the players will join them.
The Tigers will wear white uniforms at home for the first time in 17 years, multiple sources told AuburnSports.com.
Auburn traditionally wears its navy jerseys at home, making an exception in 2007 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 1957 national championship team, and again in 2008 against UT Martin.

The Tigers defeated Vanderbilt 35-7 in ’07 wearing white tops and bottoms, along with grey face masks and only vertical stripes on the helmets to depict the uniforms worn during the ’57 season. The goal was to closely mirror the jerseys worn by that championship team.
In ’08, UT Martin requested to wear their orange uniforms on the road and AU obliged. AU also won 37-20.
Before that, Auburn last wore all white at home against Georgia in 1968.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network.
