Tigers add in-state TE Damarcus Broughton to signing class
The first commit of the Alex Golesh era is officially an Auburn Tiger. Tight end Damarcus Broughton, from Semmes, Ala., signed with the Tigers on the first day of the Early Signing Period Wednesday.
THE BROUGHTON FILE
Position: Tight end
Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 220 pounds
Hometown (HS): Semmes, Ala. (Mary G. Montgomery)
On3 Industry Ranking: (85.57) No. 1,357 overall, No. 86 tight end, No. 52 player in Alabama
Commitment date: Dec. 1, 2025
Chose Auburn over: South Florida
Time of enrollment: January
Notable: Things moved quickly for Broughton, who was all set to head to Tampa and play for South Florida. When Alex Golesh accepted the head coaching job at Auburn, Broughton promptly de-committed from South Florida. He announced he’d be following Golesh to Auburn Monday and signed two days later.

PINK’S ANALYSIS
Seeing Broughton in game action as well as at Auburn’s camp over the summer, he owns an eye-catching frame. Broughton is listed at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He will be able to add plenty of weight to that frame. He has not begun growing into his length yet.
Broughton has good ball skills to go along with his big frame. Along with football, he is also a baseball player. He can add a receiving threat to the tight end room. When he learns to high point the football more consistently, he has the potential to be a tough matchup. He’s still raw in that area.

For tight ends with receiver skills, they need to show willingness to block. Broughton shows the fortitude and willingness to be physical at the point of attack when blocking. As he adds weight, that willingness will help him fit in different roles for Auburn’s new offense.
Broughton is on his way to being physically ready for the SEC. He has a top-tier frame for tight ends. His game speed/motor needs to improve on every down moving forward, but he’s got the tools to be a dual tight end for Auburn in the future.
