Auburn travels to suburban Oklahoma City this weekend for a game against Oklahoma — a program desperate for playoff football. Years of middling results followed by the addition of a top-tier quarterback has their fans excited. Sound familiar? Auburn knows the struggle.
The key storyline this week will be the return of Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold to the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, which served as his home base throughout his first two college seasons. Hugh Freeze says Arnold is a professional and will not be affected by emotions associated with this encounter.
It’ll be an interesting storyline to watch. Another will be the health of defensive end Amaris Williams, who suffered a dislocated shoulder against South Alabama. Freeze seemed pessimistic about Williams being available for the weekend tilt. He suggested that freshman Jared Smith, who notched his first sack last weekend, could be the next man up at Keldric Smith’s understudy.
