Auburn could be without its top wide receiver when it hosts Kentucky Saturday night.

Cam Coleman is listed as questionable on the initial SEC Student Athlete Availability report released Wednesday night. Regardless, Hugh Freeze remains optimistic that Coleman plays against the Wildcats, he said on the SEC teleconference earlier in the day.

“Me watching him today, I would say I’m optimistic that he’ll give it a go,” Freeze said. “That’s just from my viewpoint of kinda watching him move around today and his attitude.”

Coleman practiced Wednesday

Coleman, who leads Auburn in receiving yardage this year with 440 yards, injured his ankle in the first half against Arkansas. He returned to action later in the game with his ankle heavily taped and is not back to full participant status in practice.

“I thought he moved around pretty well today,” Freeze said Wednesday. “Obviously, they’re just letting him do straight-line stuff right now. But he’s one that’s in the training room constantly and is going to do everything possible to play, and we’re hopeful that he will.”

Three others questionable

Aside from Coleman, sophomore wide receiver Malcolm Simmons, freshman defensive lineman Jourdin Crawford and junior kicker Connor Gibbs are also questionable.

Simmons is the third-leading receiver on the team with 119 yards receiving on 15 catches.

Crawford has one tackle this season, but took second-team reps at nose tackle this week. He’s starting to see an uptick in snaps. The true freshman played more snaps in the last two weeks than he had in the first seven weeks of the season combined.

Gibbs is the kickoff specialist for Auburn. Should Gibbs not go Saturday, Towns McGough could take over kickoff duties.

Durell Robinson absent from report

In better news for Auburn, running back Durell Robinson is no longer listed on the availability report. Robinson had a collection of blood removed from his leg following the game against Ball State and missed every game since.

Only center Connor Lew (torn ACL) and wide receiver Horatio Fields (broken foot) are listed as out.

The other guys (Kentucky)

Kentucky has a plethora of players listed on the initial report.

OUT: WR Troy Stellato, WR David Washington Jr., RB Jamarion Wilcox, OLB Jacob Smith, ILB Devin Smith, DL Nic Smith, TE Elijah Brown

DOUBTFUL: DB DJ Waller Jr., DB Terhyon Nichols, OL Aba Selm
