Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 4-star linebacker DQ Forkpa is closing in on a decision and the Florida Gators are right in the mix.

On Monday, the Hoschton, Georgia native told On3’s Josh Newberg he will be making his college commitment on July 12. Forkpa is down to four schools: Florida, Florida State, Miami and Michigan.

Florida has made a strong impression throughout the process and that hasn’t changed. Forkpa officially visited Gainesville in June and walked away feeling good about the program, saying the Gators were leading in his recruitment at the time.

“Really good coaching,” Forkpa said of Florida. “Coach (Billy) Napier, he’s a Christian guy. That’s what I like a lot. Not to dig too much into the religious side, but I just like his values and his morals. Also, the brotherhood that was there when I was (on campus), I was just able to be myself and just bond. The people in the Gators building, I love all of them.”

Forkpa is ranked the No. 346 overall prospect and No. 25 linebacker in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He also checks in as the No. 50 player in Florida.

He took official visits to all four finalists in June. Michigan is the lone out-of-state contender, while Florida, Florida State and Miami will battle it out to keep him in the Sunshine State.

With his decision less than two weeks away, the Gators remain in a strong spot for one of the top linebackers in the state. In recent weeks, we have also included him in our mock recruiting classes, as sources have said UF is setting the pace. We will see if that changes over the final few weeks.
