Florida commit Davian Groce named to DCTX preseason super team

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football recognizes the top players in Texas high school football with the 2025 Whataburger Super Team. The publication announced the preseason offensive team this week, and included a top Florida Gators commit. Frisco (Texas) Lone Star 4-star wide receiver Davian Groce was named to the offensive first-team list as a utility player.
Over the years, the Whataburger Super Team has celebrated some big names in the sport who played their prep careers in the Lone Star State. Past names include quarterback Andrew Luck, quarterback Kyler Murray, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, wide receiver Marvin Mims, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, wide receiver Jordan Whittington, defensive back Caden Sterns, and defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal.
Why Davian Groce received the nomination
Florida commit Davian Groce landing on this preseason list as a utility player is the perfect way to describe his game. During his career so far, Groce has made an impact in different phases of the game. He finished his junior campaign with 687 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. As a receiver, Groce was just as impressive, catching 43 passes for 702 yards and another 5 touchdowns. He added another 3 touchdowns on special teams (1 on punt return, 2 on kick return).
Groce, a 3-year starter, has 3896 total yards of offense in his career. That also includes 39 total touchdowns in his career on offense. If you account for his scores on special teams in Groce’s career, that number jumps to 42 touchdowns.
“A day-one starter as a freshman,” wrote Greg Powers of TexasFootball.com. “The Navy All-American and DCTF three-star is a dynamic playmaker with rare positional versatility. He’s a threat to score on any touch—whether shaking defenders as a route runner when split out at wide receiver or slicing through defenses from the backfield.”

Groce is Florida’s highest-rated 2026 commit to date
The Florida Gators added Davian Groce to the commitment list earlier this month. It was an impressive win for the Orange and Blue, considering he was an Oklahoma. Florida hosted Davian Groce on campus only one time, which wasn’t the case for his other finalists. Groce felt a family vibe from UF’s staff, and that went a long way in his book.
“Really just everybody from the coaching staff to the players and even the fans, I feel like the fans did a big job in this as well,” Groce told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong after his commitment. “I feel they have some of the best fans in the world. The amount of love I’m gettin from committing and amount of love going down there.
“The coaches and their families and even their wives and their kids, they’re all family me and big on helping you out. I feel like they’re very genuine people and they don’t talk negative about other people and their players. They keep everything positive. I need positive energy around me.”
The Rivals Industry, a weighted average of the four major recruiting services, ranks Davian Groce as the nation’s No. 60 Overall player.
