GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida had a notable defender absent from practice on Thursday. UF redshirt senior Caleb Banks has a lower leg injury and is currently in a boot, Gators Online has learned.

Banks is day-to-day and his injury is not serious, a program source said. He was out for all of spring camp after offseason foot surgery but returned to action this fall. Banks is the latest player to miss time in a camp with a minor injury.

Sophomore EDGE LJ McCray and freshman wideout Dallas Wilson are both week-to-week with lower body injuries. Redshirt sophomore receivers Eugene Wilson III and Aidan Mizell also missed a week of practice but are back now.

Banks finished last season with 21 tackles (10 solo), 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble in 12 games played (10 starts). He had breakout performances vs. LSU and Ole Miss, earning SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week against the Rebels.

Other notes on injured players

Redshirt senior receiver Kahleil Jackson is no longer wearing a non-contact jersey but still not participating in position drills. After the viewing period in the indoor practice facility, Jackson went outside to work with the trainers.

A pair of Florida safeties, redshirt sophomore Aaron Gates and freshman Dallas Stubbs, were back at practice after not being observed during Tuesday’s viewing. Both were dressed out Thursday but did not participate in position drills.
