The Florida Gators have made the first cut for 2024 four-star running back Jerrick Gibson out of IMG Academy. The Gainesville, Florida, native included the Gators alongside Tennessee, Miami, Michigan, ArkansasGeorgiaAlabamaTexas A&MOklahomaTexasOhio State, and Oregon.

As his recruitment stands, the Gators lead according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with 31.8%. Texas, Tennessee and Georgia are also among Gibson’s top schools.

Gibson talks recent Florida visit

A former Florida commit, the 5-foot-10.5, 190-pound visited Gainesville for the Gators’ matchup against the South Florida Bulls.

“The energy of the stadium was electric,” Gibson told Corey Bender of Gators Online. “I felt like Florida played well yesterday. They still have things to get better at, but they ran the ball well.”

Right away, Gibson came away impressed with how the Gators toated their running backs under Billy Napier and Jabbar Juluke.

“I think it’s amazing they are playing the young guys,” Gibson said. “They are showing out and you have a true freshman in there scoring touchdowns, making big plays, and that’s a big thing.

“I like how they are rotating the backs and rotating them in properly. All of them are not missing a beat. They got a standard at the running back position to score, so that’s good.”

Inside the Film Room

Highly explosive, twitched up running back prospect. Physically developed and advanced heading into his junior season. Checked in at 5-foot-10.5, 190 pounds with a rocked up build. One of the more explosive 2024 prospects in the combine setting, registering an electronically-timed 4.57 second 40 yard dash, 40.3 inch vertical and 10 foot broad jump.

Moves at a different speed than many of his fellow top running backs. Gibson carries that burst and twitch over to the field. Shows the play speed to rip off chunk runs. Also catches the ball fairly well, but can continue to improve in that area.

Moderately productive as a sophomore while playing for a team with a losing record. Transferred to IMG Academy prior to his junior season. Older for the cycle, turning 17 years old during his sophomore season. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
