Florida Gators baseball schedule for week two of spring practice

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After officially opening spring practice last Friday, the Florida baseball program starts week two of the preseason on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
The Gators have open practices scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with intrasquad scrimmages on the books for Tuesday (3 p.m.) and Wednesday (3:30 p.m.). The remainder of the week two schedule (Friday-Sunday) will be posted as soon as it is finalized.
For the duration of the preseason, the gates of Condron Family Ballpark are once again open to the public. Access for all spring practices will look the same as it did this past fall. Gate 3 (located behind home plate) will open at each day’s scheduled practice time. A recurring question from fans has been about food and drink at practice. While the concession stands are not open, fans can bring their own food and drink to the stadium for practice.

The No. 3 ranking from Baseball America is Florida’s second-highest of the preseason, coming in behind Collegiate Baseball (No. 2) and just ahead of D1Baseball (No. 7) and Perfect Game (No. 8). Outlets with preseason rankings yet to be released are the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Gators return a handful of starters including Friday night starter Brandon Sproat and added another ace in Hurston Waldrep.
Four Florida baseball student-athletes were honored with Preseason All-America recognition by Collegiate Baseball on Tuesday morning in outfielder Wyatt Langford, right-handed pitcher Hurston Waldrep, right-hander Brandon Sproat, and catcher B.T. Riopelle.
Langford and Waldrep collected the highest honors, as they were both named Preseason First Team All-Americans at their respective positions. Meanwhile, Sproat was handed a Second Team nod and Riopelle capped off the list as a Third Team recipient. Florida’s four players on Collegiate Baseball’s list tied for the second-most in the country.
