GAINESVILLE, Fla. — It’s a dream for any young person to be able to care for their parents. Just a freshman in college, Florida Gators defensive lineman D’Antre Robinson was able to realize that dream on Valentine’s Day.

Robinson, a freshman offensive lineman from Orlando, Florida, posted a video to his YouTube channel to surprise his mother with her very own home.

Robinson originally committed to Texas. He signed with the school but was able to get out of his national letter of Intent and signed with the Florida Gators where he enrolled in December.

Robinson is the No. 172 overall prospect and No. 15 defensive lineman in the 2024 class. That is according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the 35th-ranked senior in the state of Florida.

“That’s my dream school, first of all. That’s one of the biggest things,” Robinson previously told Gators Online. “They’re recruiting me hard. I know if I can go there I can play. And I’m not too far from home — and I’m not too close. That was my one dream school. Growing up, it was split sides of Florida and Florida State and my side was Florida so I’ve always been a Florida fan since I was little.

“All my life. I used to play receiver. I always thought about me playing at Florida.”

Robinson has since grown out of the receiver position but he and his mom will be able to grow into their new home.

NIL changing lives

Since enrolling at the University of Florida, Robinson has signed a deal with Florida Victorious. The financial details of Florida Victorious contracts are not public knowledge. However, Robinson was able to change the lives of people around him in a short time.

Robinson has an NIL Valuation of $111,000 dollars according to the On3 NIL Valuation.

The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV) by combining Roster Value and NIL.

A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation establishes the overall NIL market and projected 12-month growth rate for an Athlete by measuring two categories: Roster Value and NIL.

Once Roster Value and NIL combine to create the overall NIL market, athletes participate in the marketplace based on their individual roster payments and NIL.

For each athlete, the On3 NIL Valuation algorithm takes into account four primary factors: Roster Value Performance, InfluenceExposure and Deal Data to create their individual Roster Value and NIL, which together combine to create the athlete’s On3 NIL Valuation.

  • Performance: Performance is determined by how the athlete performs on the field. Big games against key opponents, becoming nationally ranked and winning national awards will have the most impact on an athlete’s valuation. Participation in college sports is weighted heavier in most cases than those that participate at the high school level.
  • Influence: Influence is determined by the athlete’s own social media authority. Social media followers, reach and engagement are the primary factors that determine influence.
  • Exposure: Exposure is determined by several factors including whether the athlete is in high school or college, which school the athlete attends and their position. Athletes that attend universities with a larger fan base and media attention are likely to see a positive impact on valuation. Athletes who play a position with higher visibility (ie. quarterback vs. center) are likely to see a higher valuation.
  • Deal Data: On3 collects and verifies athlete deal data from numerous sources, including athletes, coaches, collectives, agents, and player representatives as the foundation of Roster Value.

What is Roster Value?

Roster Value is a calculation of an athlete’s respective value to their team. It is the amount an athlete hopes to receive primarily through a school’s collective. It is estimated that for College Football and Basketball athletes, > 90% of all payments are Roster Value, versus NIL. The amount is based on the athlete’s performance value, their school’s NIL collective size, and the overall NIL market.
