Gators QB DJ Lagway signs with Jordan Brand

Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway has signed a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal with Jordan Brand, the company announced on Friday. The partnership marks a major step in Lagway’s career, highlighting his talent and rising profile both on and off the field.
Lagway, from Willis, Texas, is set to start for the 15th-ranked Gators in their season opener against Long Island University on Saturday. The announcement was accompanied by a photo shoot and social media posts showing Lagway in Air Jordan apparel.
The Jordan Brand deal gives Lagway national exposure and recognition as one of college football’s rising stars. Fans and recruits alike will be watching closely as he begins the 2025 campaign. With his arm talent and new NIL partnership, expectations are high for what he can accomplish this year.
Despite offseason injuries, Lagway has been cleared to start the season opener. Head coach Billy Napier expressed confidence in Lagway’s preparation and development, saying he is ready to lead the team into the new season.
As a true freshman last season, Lagway threw for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, starting seven games after veteran Graham Mertz went down with a torn ACL. The Gators went 6–1 with Lagway starting, closing on a four-game win streak — all while he played through a hamstring injury.

Lagway’s health has been the biggest question for UF this offseason. Even so, he has received a large amount of preseason recognition. The Coaches Preseason All-SEC Teams had him as a third-team selection. Additionally, Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan named Lagweay one of the best QBs nationally when he ranked every college football starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
