The Florida Gators will welcome approximately 18 recruiting targets to campus on Friday for official visits. Of the large cluster of visitors, four of those names project at the LB and edge position. It’s a big opportunity for assistant coaches Robert Bala, Mike Peterson, and the rest of UF’s staff to capitalize, or at the very least, make a lasting impression as the summer continues.

Here is an overview of those four names at the position expected to be in Florida this weekend on official visits.

LB/EDGE OFFICIAL VISITORS (May 30-June 1)

4-star Edge Asharri Charles, Venice (Fla.)
In-state defender Asharri Charles is one of the premier edge rushers in the 2026 class. This weekend will be his first time back in Gainesville since attending a spring scrimmage on campus last year. The Florida Gators haven’t been talked about much in this recruitment. Miami holds the RPM edge to land him. Florida is the first offical visit this summer for Charles. He plans to see Missouri, Louisville, Kentucky, and Miami in that order afterwards. Charles says he won’t commit until closer to signing day in December, and plans to visit LSU, Penn State, and FSU during the season.

4-star LB DQ Forkpa, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Heading into the offical visit this weekend, DQ Forkpa has visited the Florida Gators twice. He enters this weekend with UF as his leader, but also says he won’t commit until later this year. Forkpa and new UF assistant Robert Bala have built a strong connection quickly. Forkpa took an official visit to Colorado earlier this month. Following his time at UF, Forkpa plans to visit FSU, Michigan, and Cincinnati.

Karon Maycock
Florida is still in pursuit of FSU commit Karon Maycock

3-star LB Karon Maycock (FSU commit), Miami (Fla.) Central
Despite committing to Florida State in February, Karon Maycock is keeping the door open to others. The Florida Gators are the first offical visit on the schedule. After his time in The Swamp, Maycock plans to see Penn State, Alabama, and FSU in that order. When speaking with Gators Online earlier this week, Maycock said UF was one of two programs pressing hardest to flip him.

Corey Howard Florida Gators
(Opendorse NIL)

NR Edge Corey Howard, Valdosta (GA)
An unranked edge rusher from South Georgia. Corey Howard had a recent spike in his recruitment during spring football. He entered this year with only two offers, but many more have come since January. The Georgia Bulldogs gave Howard his first SEC offer earlier this month, and Florida wasn’t far behind. Georgia State received Howard’s first official visit last weekend, and he will see Florida, Connecticut, Georgia, and South Alabama next.
