Florida's rivalry game against FSU marks the 18th straight sell out

The Florida Gators’ matchup with in-state rival FSU on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. is officially sold out, continuing a streak of 18 straight sellouts at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The current sell-out streak is the longest for the Gators since selling out 138 consecutive games from 1989-2011. It’s an impressive run, especially in the recent Tennessee game and the upcoming Florida State game, considering the Gators had a sold-out crowd despite not having a full-time head coach in place.

Back in August, the Gators Ticket Office announced that all season tickets had been claimed. Student season tickets have also sold out for the fifth year running.

Per D1.Ticker, UF had an average home attendance last season of 90,017 [Michigan led, with an average of 110,548] to rank 10th nationally. By comparison, Miami averaged 59,931, and Florida State averaged 53,479.

The Florida Gators are 3-8 this season

It’s been a struggle of a season this year for the Florida Gators. After starting the year with a win at home over Long Island University, UF had to wait for its next win. Following the Long Island game, the Gators were upset at home the following week against USF. The Gators lost their next two games on the road to LSU and Miami, who were ranked No. 3 and No. 4 in the country at that time. Florida did upset Texas at home on October 4 when the Longhorns were ranked No. 9 at the time. The next two weeks, Florida lost to Texas A&M on the road and then beat Mississippi State at home.

The Florida Gators parted ways with former head coach Billy Napier on the Sunday following UF’s win over the Bulldogs. Assistant coach Billy Gonzales was appointed the interim head coach after Napier’s dismissal. Since that, the Gators have lost four straight games under Gonzales’s time as the interim head coach.

The Florida Gators lead the all-time series against Florida State by a margin of 38 wins compared to 28 losses. The two teams have also tied twice in their history of playing each other. Florida won the most recent matchup against the Seminoles, beating them in Tallahassee in the 2024 season by a score of 31-11.
