Welcome to Good Morning Gators, where we cover the latest news, notes and analysis on Florida athletics. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything in the world of Florida football, UF recruiting, Gators basketball, Florida baseball and more.

It’s spring break at the University of Florida, and for the second year in a row, the GatorMade program is taking a group of student-athletes on a weeklong trip.

There will be 15 players traveling to the Big Apple for a New Year City Business Break. GatorMade will make a total of 12 corporate visits from March 12-19.

Florida offensive tackle Jordan Herman and his teammates left from the Gainesville Regional Airport on Sunday.

“Going to New York, about to be a fun time. Can’t wait,” Herman said in the video below. “I’m most excited, not gonna lie, about just seeing the different fashion stories, like the fashion district, and the food. The pizza especially.”

What is the GatorMade program?

The GatorMade program, launched by Napier in January 2022, is a holistic player-focused and purpose-driven initiative that develops football players during their time at UF and beyond.

Led by senior director of player relations and GatorMade Savannah Bailey, the program took its first trip of 2023 in February to the Central Florida Gator Club and Disney World in Orlando.

The program provided Florida players with several opportunities last year, including a jam-packed month of June. The most notable initiative was UF’s first-ever service abroad mission: a 10-day trip to Greece with 16 student-athletes.

Men’s Wearhouse measured the entire Florida football team for two custom-tailored suits, and GatorMade provided a financial literacy session for the players from the NIL consulting firm Team Altemus.

The program also held an Etiquette Dinner at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille in June for the 2022 signees who reported to campus for enrollment. The early enrollees also took part in the dinner.

Director of nutrition Kelsee Gomes even showed the football players how to grill during the summer with former Florida offensive lineman Shannon Snell. And over last year’s spring break, nine UF football players spent four days in Atlanta for a weekend of professional exposure, exploration, and experience.
