Gators in the NFL: Week One

With the NFL season underway, it’s time to take a look at how the Florida Gators performed across the league.

Multiple former UF players shined throughout the weekend of professional ball.

Here’s a look at how the Gators performed in the first week of the NFL season:

Arizona Cardinals

DJ Humphries – Humphries started at left tackle on Sunday for the Cardinals in their 44-21 loss to the Chiefs.

Marco Wilson – Wilson started the season off with five total tackles, one forced fumble and two pass deflections.

Atlanta Falcons

Kyle Pitts – the second-year tight end caught just two passes on seven targets for 19 yards in the Falcons’ 27-26 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Feleipe Franks and Teez Tabor did not record any stats on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens

Demarcus Robinson – the recent Ravens addition caught two passes on four targets for 19 yards in the Ravens’ 24-9 victory over the New York Jets.

Buffalo Bills

Kaiir Elam – although the first round draft pick didn’t get the start, he recorded three tackles in the Bills’ 31-10 Thursday night win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Carolina Panthers

CJ Henderson – Henderson recorded three total tackles and defended one pass on Sunday.

Eddy Piñeiro – Piñeiro made all three of his extra points and hit a 34-yard field goal late in the Panthers’ 26-24 loss against the Cleveland Browns.

Cincinnati Bengals

Evan McPherson – McPherson missed his lone extra point and went 2-3 on field goals in the Bengals’ overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He did hit a 59-yard field goal, which is a career high.

Rookie defensive lineman Zach Carter recorded no stats on Sunday in his first NFL game.

Cleveland Browns

Taven Bryan – the 2018 first round draft pick recorded one tackle in his debut with the Browns.

Dallas Cowboys

Neither Malik Davis or Dante Fowler Jr. recorded stats in the Cowboys’ Sunday night 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Denver Broncos

Tyrie Cleveland did not record any stats in the Broncos’ Monday night 17-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Detroit Lions

Alex Anzalone – Anzalone recorded nine total tackles on Sunday with one running play stuff.

Jarrad Davis did not record any stats for the Lions in their 38-35 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Green Bay Packers

TJ Slaton – Slaton recorded two assisted tackles on Sunday in a losing effort to the Minnesota Vikings.

Houston Texans

Jonathan Greenard – Greenard recorded four total tackles with two run stuffs in the Texans’ tie with the Indianapolis Colts.

Dameon Pierce – the rookie running back rushed for just 33 yards on 11 carries with one reception for six yards in his NFL debut.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Jawaan Taylor earned a start at right tackle for the Jaguars in their 28-22 loss to the Washington Commanders.

Kansas City Chiefs

Carlos Dunlap – entering season No. 13 in the NFL, Dunlap recorded four total tackles and a sack in the Chiefs’ 44-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Tommy Townsend – Townsend punted the ball twice on Sunday with a long of 58 yards and an average of 54.

Los Angeles Rams

Brandon Powell – Powell caught one pass for 10 yards and had one rushing attempt for three yards. He also returned four kickoffs for a total of 67 yards with a long of 21.

Van Jefferson recorded no stats in the Rams’ loss as he continues to recover from knee surgery.

Miami Dolphins

Freddie Swain recorded no stats in his debut with the Dolphins.

Minnesota Vikings

Jonathan Bullard – Bullard recorded one assisted tackle in the Vikings’ 23-7 win over the Green Bay Packers.

New England Patriots

Trent Brown started at left tackle for the Patriots in their loss at the Miami Dolphins.

New Orleans Saints

Marcus Maye – Maye recorded nine total tackles and a forced fumble in his Saints debut.

New York Giants

Kadarius Toney – the 2021 first round draft pick recorded two catches for 23 yards in the Giants’ 21-20 win over the Tennessee Titans.

New York Jets

Marcell Harris recorded no stats in the Jets’ 24-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Philadelphia Eagles

CJ Gardner-Johnson – in his first game with the Eagles, he recorded five total tackles and one pass deflection in the 38-35 win over the Detroit Lions.

Seattle Seahawks 

Neither Stone Forsythe or Jabari Zuniga recorded stats in the Seahawks 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Keanu Neal – Neal had one tackle against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in his first game with the Bucs.

Kyle Trask and Fred Johnson recorded no stats in the Bucs’ 19-3 win over the Cowboys.

Washington Commanders 

Jon Bostic recorded no stats in the Commanders’ 28-22 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
