Gators Online Show: UF enters critical phase of offseason workouts
Welcome to the Gators Online Show! For episode 38, co-hosts Zach Abolverdi and Nick de la Torre discuss Florida’s IPF workouts, the Gators headed to the NFL Combine, Steve Spurrier’s thoughts on the UF quarterback room and the latest surrounding men’s hoops and baseball.
The Florida football team completed the first phase of its offseason program — Foundation — with Mock Hocke on Monday and began the second phase — Identity — Wednesday.
Last year, UF coach Billy Napier called the first half of phase two the most difficult and challenging thing the players do the entire year from a mental and physical toughness standpoint.
Abolverdi and de la Torre also share their thoughts on the workout regimen and on-field results from Florida director of strength and conditioning Mark Hocke and his staff in 2022.
This week the Gators had nine former players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine: Anthony Richardson, O’Cyrus Torrence, Richard Gouraige, Justin Shorter, Gervon Dexter, Ventrell Miller, Brenton Cox Jr., Trey Dean III and Rashad Torrence II.
Abolverdi and de la Torre detail the latest buzz surrounding Richardson, how two other Gators improved their draft stock last week and the status of Miller, who missed the Reese’s Senior Bowl following a foot procedure.
The guys wrap up the show recapping Florida’s blowout loss at No. 3 Alabama, examining how the Gators can make the NCAA Tournament and looking ahead to start of the UF baseball season next week.
