Gators QB commit Will Griffin climbs to No. 2 all-time in Florida high school passing touchdowns

Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit is currently up big over Brandon (Fla.) in their Friday night high school football game. In that game, Florida Gators quarterback commit Will Griffin tossed career passing touchdown No. 127 all-time, which moves him to No. 2 in the state of Florida record books for career passing touchdowns.
Will Griffin moves up the all-time rankings
With his latest TD pass, Will Griffin moves ahead of John Wolford (2010-2013) from Jacksonville (Fla.) Bishop Kenny, on the list of all-time passing touchdowns in the state. Griffin trails only Tucker Israel (2011-2014), Lake Nona, who has 162 all-time passing touchdowns.
Heading into Griffin’s game this week, he had thrown for 1407 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions on the season. He’s also completed 86-142 passes thrown, which gives him a 61% completion percentage for the year. Jesuit is 6-1 on the year, with their only loss coming on the road to Valdosta (Ga.) in week 2 of the season. Furthermore, Griffin had accounted for at least 200 passing yards in his last three games heading into his current contest.
Griffin is also the Tampa Bay area’s all-time career passing leader with 10,677 yards. He passed former Jefferson standout Quentin Williams this season, who previously threw for 10,384. The Tampa Bay area includes Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties.
His career numbers, excluding the game in action on Friday night, Griffin has thrown for 11,172 passing yards, 124 touchdowns, and 37 career interceptions. That includes completing 770 completions to 1249 attempts, which is good for a 62% completion percentage.

Griffin was Florida’s first 2026 commitment of the cycle
Will Griffin has been committed to Florida since the summer of 2024 and was the first to pull the trigger in that class. His family’s connections to the university also run deep. His father, Nick Griffin, and several relatives graduated from the SEC school. Those ties to the Orange and Blue helped pave the way for his eventual commitment. Gators Online’s Corey Bender highlighted three Florida commits most likely to honor their pledges regardless of the program’s direction earlier this week. After reading that story, his father reached out to Bender to further reaffirm his son’s commitment to the Gators. You can read more on that HERE.
The Rivals Industry, a weighted average of the three major recruiting services, ranks Will Griffin as the nation’s No. 200 overall player.
