Gators expected to hire Marcus Davis as WR coach
Marcus Davis, who spent the past three seasons as receivers coach at Auburn, is expected to join Jon Sumrall’s staff with the Florida Gators.
Davis coached two of the SEC’s most talented receivers in 2025—Cam Coleman (56 catches for 708 yards) and Eric Singleton Jr. (58 for 534). Davis was lead coach in the recruitment of Coleman, a 5-star prospect and No. 4 overall player in the 2024 class. Singleton was a first-year transfer from Georgia Tech, where he played for new Gators offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner.
Before landing at Auburn as receivers coach on Dec. 29, 2022, Davis was receivers coach for one season at Georgia Southern and one season at Hawaii.
At Georgia Southern, Davis coached Khaleb Hood, who was second team All-Sun Belt Conference. Per Davis’ bio with Auburn, “Hood led the team with school single-season records for receptions (87) and receiving yards (925), while his 6.7 receptions per game ranked 10th nationally.”
