The Florida Gators are set to welcome two members of the 2022 signing class to campus this week.

Running back Trevor Etienne and offensive lineman David Conner are both in Gainesville and will enroll in classes this week.

Billy Napier and his staff signed 18 players in their transitional class. Three players — Kamari Wilson, Devin Moore and Chris McClellan — enrolled early and participated in spring camp.

Etienne and Conner now join them on campus, while the rest of the signing class enrolls this summer. That means the pair will be able to get into the strength and conditioning program early, giving them a head start on their college careers.

Gator Online’s Corey Bender broke down both Conner and Etienne in his Signing Day Capsules.

Trevor Etienne Scouting Report

“Another part of Etienne’s game that grasps my attention is his ability to navigate through clutter. He does a great job of reading and reacting, especially at the line of scrimmage. He typically does not have a lot of room to work with but knows how to make something out of nothing. You have to credit Etienne’s vision and awareness for that.”

“Etienne is not a blazer at the position, but he is more than capable of pulling away for six points. Defenders must display a disciplined brand of football when containing him. He is a slippery ball carrier who consistently breaks arms tackles and shows a burst to break out of the pile as well.”

“All in all, Etienne is at his best when operating in between the tackles. He shows patience and does a great job of dissecting what’s in front of him; however, he also flashes the short-area quickness and lateral movement to break out of that clutter and advance the ball for lengthy gains.”

David Conner Scouting Report

“Conner is relatively new to the offensive side of the ball, only making the switch over to tackle just before his junior year. The first thing that jumps out when watching him play is his aggression and physicality; you can thank his time along the defensive line for that.”

“Conner is still a very raw prospect having only played the position for about a year, but he possesses all of the physical tools you look for in an offensive tackle. He currently measures in at 6-foot-6, 285 pounds with a big wingspan of about 85 inches, which is prototypical size for a big-time tackle.”

“He also moves very well for someone his size and likes to finish his blocks by driving opponents into the ground. Etienne has done a great job of putting in work and improving over the last year and is someone who I think has tremendous long-term potential.”

“While Conner is not the instant impact offensive lineman UF desperately needs in this class, I do like him as a prospect who in 2-3 years from now could become your starting left tackle after having some time to develop and work on his craft.”
