Jason Marshall announces he will return for senior season

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators junior cornerback Jason Marshall announced that he will return to school for his senior season. The cornerback had until Jan. 15 to decide whether to enter the NFL Draft or return to school.

Marshall started at cornerback in every game in back-to-back seasons (2022-2023). He led the team with a career-high 10 pass breakups for the second straight year, had 26 tackles (20 solo), 3.0 tackles-for-loss with 1.0 sacks this past year. In 2022 he started at cornerback in all 13 games. He finished the season with 29 tackles, eight pass breakups, one TFL, one interception, and a quarterback hurry.

In 2021 as a freshman Marshall Jr. saw action in 13 games and played a total of 634 snaps at cornerback for the Gators. He recorded 17 tackles, 3 assists, while adding 3 stops. In coverage, Marshall notched one pass breakup, one interception, and quarterback rating when targetted of 59.8.

In 2023 as a junior Marshall Jr. played in 12 games and contributed on 651 snaps. He chalked up 22 tackles, 4 assists, and added 5 stops. In the secondary Marshall Jr. forced 3 pass breakups, no interceptions, and gave up an unimpressive QB rating when targetted of 124.1.

Marshall has played in a total of 38 games, making 78 tackles (55 solo), six tackles for a loss, two interceptions and 21 passes broken up.

Jason Marshall returns to lead a young secondary

Marshall will be the elder statesman in a young room. Marshall brings three years of starting experience back to a room that just added a new coach in Will Harris. Florida has a group of talented young cornerbacks in Devin Moore, Ja’Keem Jackson, Sharif Denson, Aaron Gates and Dijon Johnson. Florida also added a cornerback in signee Teddy Foster.
