According to a source, Florida will not retain co-offensive line coach Jonathan Decoster under new head coach Jon Sumrall, marking another shift as the Gators reshape their staff heading into 2025.

Decoster leaves Gainesville with a strong reputation. A former Cleveland Browns assistant, he brought NFL teaching and structure to Florida’s offensive line room and was widely respected inside coaching circles for his communication, detail and player development, especially when it came to pass protection. The Gators saw plenty of improvement there while under his guidance. He is considered one of the profession’s rising coaches and should be coveted.

Decoster also proved to be a strong asset on the recruiting trail. He played a key role in Florida signing five offensive linemen in the 2025 class, helping the Gators restock the room with size and versatility. His relationships and steady presence were well regarded throughout the process.

Decoster’s departure marks another step in Sumrall’s overhaul of the Gators’ coaching staff, which has already seen several changes. Those departures include fellow co-offensive line coach Rob Sale, wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. It signals a fresh direction for a unit that has talent returning but needs to take a significant step forward in 2025.

Florida’s offensive line transition will be one of the key early storylines of the Sumrall era as the Gators head into the spring.
