When Todd Golden and the Gators host Kentucky on Jan. 6, it will mark the start of their SEC schedule for the 2023-24 season.

It will also be the first time Florida and Kentucky square off in the conference opener since 1998-99. This will be the first time the game takes place in Gainesville since the 1978-79 season.

The Gators will end January with a trip to Lexington to wrap up the season series with John Calipari’s program. That game is on the calendar for Jan. 31.

In addition to those matchups against the Wildcats, Florida has weekend home games against Arkansas (Jan. 13), Georgia (Jan. 27), Auburn (Feb. 10) and Vanderbilt (Feb. 24).

For those midweek tipoffs at the O’Connell Center, the Gators will host Mississippi State (Jan. 24), LSU (Feb. 13), Missouri (Feb. 28) and Alabama (March 5). That final game against the Crimson Tide falls on Senior Night.

Also, Florida will play its two-game series vs. Alabama and Vanderbilt during the final three weeks of the regular season, including the home finale vs. Alabama and regular season finale at Vanderbilt.

The series with Georgia and Missouri will include one game each in January and February.

Todd Golden on the Gators’ 2023-24 roster

In a one-on-one interview with Gators Online, Golden assessed his current team and what he likes about the makeup of the roster.

“Obviously, I’m more confident now going into next year with this group we’ve been able to assemble,” he said. “I feel like we’re balanced. I feel like we have good depth and most importantly, we have pieces that mesh well together. We didn’t just go out and say, ‘Alright, we’ll get talent, talent, talent and try to figure it out.’

“I feel like we did a good job of balancing our frontcourt, we balanced our backcourt. We have shooters, we have playmakers, we have defenders, rebounders, we have guys that will play well together, which I think is the most important thing.”
