The intersection between winter sports and spring sports is in full effect for Florida State and other college programs, and it will make for an extremely busy Saturday for Seminole fans — as long as Mother Nature cooperates.

Three different FSU teams have had to adjust the times or dates of their schedule to account for what is expected to be a rainy weekend.

The action gets started this morning with the No. 5 Florida State softball team taking on No. 4 Georgia at 9 a.m. at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational. The Seminoles have split their first two games in the tournament, beating No. 9 Stanford and falling to No. 20 UCLA, while the Bulldogs have recorded wins against Wisconsin, No. 6 Oklahoma State and UCLA.

The FSU-Georgia game originally was scheduled for 10 a.m., but it was moved up an hour due to concerns about inclement weather. It will be broadcast on ESPN2. Our Aslan Hajivandi is in Clearwater covering the tournament and will post live updates on the Tribal Council message board.

The Florida State baseball team’s second game against Butler also has been moved to avoid weather issues. The original start was slated for 2 p.m., then it was delayed to 6 p.m., and now it is delayed until Sunday.

FSU won the teams’ season opener on Friday, 11-0. Sophomore left-hander Jamie Arnold will get the start today for the Seminoles, and that game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra. Warchant also will provide live updates on the FSU Baseball Forum.

At 2 p.m., the Florida State men’s basketball team will look for an upset against the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils inside the Tucker Center.

Duke is 19-5 overall and 10-3 in the ACC, while FSU is 13-11 and 7-6. The two teams have been trending in opposite directions in recent weeks, with the Seminoles losing four of their last five games and the Blue Devils winning six of their last seven.

That game will air on ESPNU, and Warchant’s Corey Clark will be providing live updates on the Seminole Hoops message board.

The Florida State women’s golf team also is in action today, starting play at the Moon Invitational in Melbourne, Fla. The event was scheduled to begin on Sunday, but play actually was moved up to today because of concerns about weather over the weekend.
