Georgia has had no shortage of talent at the tight end spot in the Kirby Smart era, and on Wednesday, the streak continued, with the Dawgs officially announcing the signing of five-star Kaiden Prothro.

A 6-foot-5 and a half, 216 pound product of Bowdon, Georgia’s Bowdon High School, Prothro ranks as the nation’s No. 30 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings. He is also the nation’s No. 4 tight end and No. 4 prospect in Georgia per the same metric.

Committed since mid-July, Prothro chose Georgia over the likes of Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Florida Gators, and Texas Longhorns, with little drama to report since announcing his pledge to the Bulldogs.

“Nobody else is like Georgia for me,” Prothro told Rivals’ Chad Simmons at the time of his decision. “I have been there a lot, they have a lot there to help me improve and Georgia was just different for me from the other schools on my list. There are a lot of things I love about Georgia. How the program is run really stands out. What coach (Todd) Hartley does in the tight end room is big for me. Being able to go against first-round draft picks every day at practice and how they compete fits me too. Georgia just has what I am looking for.”

Prothro is one of the more unique tight prospects the Bulldogs have landed in recent memory, given his exceptional size and abilities as a receiver.

Just last week, he became the GHSA leader in receiving touchdowns for a career, reeling in his 63rd career score. With Bowdon still alive in the playoffs, Prothro will have an opportunity to extend that record.
