Georgia’s offensive line recruiting received a significant boost on Wednesday, as four-star lineman Daniel Calhoun announced his commitment to the back-to-back National Champions.

Calhoun is ranked as the nation’s No. 116 overall prospect per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.

A product of Marietta, Georgia’s Walton High School, Calhoun is one of the biggest prospects in the 2024 cycle, ticking the tape at almost 6-foot-7, 365-pounds.

He’s also been a longtime target for the Bulldogs, though they had to fight off the likes of Alabama and Texas among others for his services.

“Georgia, you know, they’ve recruited me since I was in like eighth grade,” Calhoun told DawgsHQ in February. “They were the first to offer, and they’ve been coming at me really hard.”

And while Stacy Searels has been the one to lead the charge, it’s been a staffwide effort by the Bulldogs for Calhoun’s services.

“Coach [Stacy] Searels is a really good offensive line coach. We talk probably once a week, so we’ve gotten close,” Calhoun said. “It’s been really cool with Coach Smart, too. With Georgia, (it’s a whole staff effort). Coach [Dell] McGee (is involved)…”

Ultimately, however, it was about what the Dawgs have done on the field, however.

“The winning culture and they put guys in the league,” Calhoun said of what stood out about Georgia prior to the decision.

He becomes Georgia’s fourth offensive line commitment of the Class of 2024. Fellow four-star Michael Uini also recently came aboard for the Bulldogs, joining the fold on June 30. Three-star prospects Marcus Harrison and Malachi Toliver are also a part of the 2024 class.

Calhoun is the twenty-third commitment of the cycle for the Bulldogs.

He checks in as the No. 7 interior offensive lineman of the class per the Industry Ranking.

Daniel Calhoun not the last firework expected for Georgia in July

While Calhoun may be the latest member of Georgia’s Class of 2024, there could be much more action coming in short order.

In fact, he may not have to wait much longer for fellow commits on the offensive line.

Four-star offensive tackle Nyier Daniels is set to announce his commitment on Friday, with Georgia thought to be in a solid spot for his services.

On Saturday, another four-star tackle, Marques Easley, will also pledge his services, and the Bulldogs are also feeling strong entering into that decision.

Soon thereafter on July 12, four-star defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye will announce a decision, and Georgia is trending for his services, as well.

While Daniel Calhoun is getting it all kicked off for July, Georgia will be looking to keep its momentum on the trail hot.

Stay tuned to DawgsHQ for the latest on it all.
