Kirby Smart‘s ninth Georgia team is going to get plenty of love this offseason. Many, if not most, will consider it the No. 1 team in the country for the 2024 season and a massive reason for that is the return of Carson Beck for a second season as the Bulldog’s starter.

With him acting as the tip of the spear when it comes to Georgia triggermen, On3’s Jesse Simonton ranks UGA’s quarterback room as the fourth best in the country. Texas comes in at No. 1 followed by Ohio State and Oregon.

Carson Beck might be the No. 1 quarterback in the country in 2024, and while the the Bulldogs don’t have a definitive No. 2 just yet, they have quality options in redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton (three years in the system) and recent transfer addition Jaden Rashada,” Simonton writes.

“Rashada spent last season starting a handful of games at Arizona State, but the former 4-star quarterback is willingly taking a developmental season before battling with Stockton and freshman Ryan Puglisi for the starting gig next fall.”

As Simonton says, there’s no team in the country in better shape at the No. 1 spot than the Bulldogs but this isn’t a list of the top quarterbacks in the country. The fact of the matter is that Stockton, Rashada, and Puglisi have less than 250 career snaps between them.

With that said, the same, or at least something similar, could be said for the understudy options at at the three schools above the Georgia on the list. The differences between the four schools at the top seem marginal.

Beck’s first season as a starter was impressive and he got better as the season went on. He set a Georgia record for completion percentage at 72.4 percent while throwing for 3,941 yards 24 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also averaged 9.5 yards per attempt.

Had the Jacksonville native played the second half of the Capital One Orange Bowl drubbing of Florida State, he would have likely become the school’s second ever 4,000-yard passer, something Stetson Bennett accomplished for the first time the year prior.
