Georgia reels in 5-star linebacker Justin Williams for commitment No. 26

Georgia just continues to roll on the recruiting trail. The Bulldogs now have 26 commitments in the 2024 cycle with the addition Oak Ridge (Conroe, Tex.) linebacker Justin Williams. He made the call on The On3Sports YouTube Channel with Josh Newberg.
If that high school looks familiar, it’s the same as recent Bulldog pledge Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, a top 50 overall prospect and four-star defensive end. Williams is the nation’s No. 1 linebacker for the 2024 class and a five-star prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes ratings from all four recruiting coverage websites.
Williams chose UGA over Oregon with Texas A&M, Alabama, and Texas, along with dozens of other Power Five programs, extending offers. Williams visited Georgia officially on June 23, the same as his Oak Ridge teammate. The Bulldogs and Ducks seemed to be in a dead heat coming out of that visit.
UGA inked three inside linebackers in the 2023 class and it is looking to add at least two in the 2024 cycle. It currently has Demarcus Riddick on the commitment list but odds are he won’t be there by the end of the week. A flip to one of the home-state schools, Alabama or Auburn, seems imminent at this point with a final decision coming on July 26.
The addition of Williams gives Georgia a trio of five-star prospects in the current class. He joins the nation’s top player and quarterback in Dylan Raiola as well as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback in Ellis Robinson IV

On3 Scouting on Justin Williams…
At 6-foot-2 210 pounds, Williams is the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking. As previously mentioned, he’s the nation’s top linebacker and he’s the No. 3 player in Texas.
“The modern prototype for inside linebackers. Long and rangy player who can stack and shed incoming blockers but makes his money bringing down ball players from sideline to sideline and in the backfield with his elite first step and ability to close. Williams measures in at nearly 6-foot-2, 205 pounds with a 6-foot-5 wingspan. Ran an absurd electronically-timed 4.44 40-yard dash, 4.39 short shuttle and jumped a 9-foot-10 broad jump during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season.
“Monster on the track running an 11.01 100m, a 23.04 200m and jumped 21-foot-3 in the long jump during his junior track and field season. Has the all the physical tools and athletic ability to be an immediate contributor at the next level. Will need to add some mass to his frame but should maintain top-tier athletic ability as he physically develops. Has the chance to become a first round NFL draft selection once his college days are over due to his rare combination of length and athletic ability for the position.”
