Joseph Jonah-Ajonye's high-level athleticism and versatility on the defensive front reminds us of Zacch Pickens at the same stage.

Personal Life

Football is still a new game for Crucifixo Jonah-Ajonye. Jonah-Ajonye, who goes by the first name of Joseph, was born in Nigeria and lived there until 2015. “I didn’t start playing football until my freshman year in high school at Oak Ridge,” Jonah-Ajonye told 247Sports. “My uncle put me onto football, but I didn’t start playing until three years later because I always wanted to play basketball. But as I grew up, I just fell out of love with basketball because it wasn’t giving me that adrenaline rush that football gave me. In the ninth grade, I played football and basketball just to decide which one I liked better. And football ended up being the one I liked better.” The focus on football has paid off, as Jonah-Ajonye has developed into one of the top players in Texas and in the Houston area. “I’m a quarterback hunter,” Jonah-Ajonye said. “To me, football is just a fun game to learn how to play. And once you finally learn everything, you start to dominate. I’m really passionate about it.”
