Georgia lands commitment of 4-star DB Chace Calicut

Houston (Texas) North Shore four-star safety Chace Calicut is the latest player to join Georgia’s 2026 class. Calicut has announced his pledge to Georgia at the OT7 Finals in Fort Lauderdale.
The No. 117 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings is Georgia’s 23rd commit in the 2026 class. Georgia has landed five defensive backs in the 2026 class up to this point.
Calicut chose Georgia over Texas and Michigan. The Bulldogs had Calicut on campus just twice in his recruitment. The first was in his freshman year. The latest was an official visit to Georgia on June 6.
The Bulldogs made a major impression during that visit to Calicut. Georgia defensive backs coach Donte Williams sent a message of development for Calicut.

“I enjoyed the visit a lot, the development that they showed and the way they work hard and the way the NFL scouts love Georgia guys was big,” Calicut said after the visit. “You’ll be fine at Georgia. You have to put in the work.”
It was Williams’ pedigree that made an impact on Calicut.
“Donte (Williams) is the guy who did that (got me interested),” Calicut said. “His technique and the way he pushes his corners to be the best that they can be and the way he takes guys and turns them into NFL players, I’d like to play for somebody like that.”
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart had a lofty prediction for Calicut if he landed at Georgia.
“It was a good talk, he showed me where he wanted me and where he sees me in the program,” Calicut said. “He said that he could tell that I could be a first-round draft pick. He said that if I came to Georgia, he could make me the best player that I could be.”
