Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton has earned a top 10 spot in the final Heisman Trophy voting. Stockon came home in seventh place as the top 10 for the award that names college football’s most outstanding player was released on Thursday.

The winner will be announced on Saturday. The top four contenders will head to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

The finalists are Notre Dame running back Jeremyah Love, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.

Stockton’s seventh-place finish was the highest finish for a Georgia player since Stetson Bennett was invited to New York as one of the finalists in 2022.

Stockton entered the season as a first-time starter. He threw for 2,691 yards, 23 touchdowns against only five interceptions.

Stockton added value as a runner for Georgia in 2025. He also ran for 442 yards and eight touchdowns.

In addition to all Stockton’s stats in 2025, his toughness has earned the respect of Georgia’s coaching staff and players alike.

“Just resiliency, man. He’s so tough. I mean, he takes shot after shot,” Smart told reporters after Georgia’s win over Tennessee. :You know, I thought he did a good job with the run game — I’m talking about his run game. He saved us on a couple of third downs. In the red area, he made a couple of runs. That plus-one run game can be big for us if he can protect himself. I thought he grew up tonight. He grew up a lot. He stood it in there. The fourth-down throw that he made was really good.”

Georgia will return to action in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1.
