ATHENS, Ga. — A fast start and a dominant fourth quarter helped Georgia put a beating on No. 10 Texas on Saturday. The Bulldogs thrashed the Longhorns 35-10 with 14 points their first two drives and 21 more in the fourth as Gunner Stockton accounted for five touchdowns.

Stockton completed 24 of 29 pass attempts for 229 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw his third interception of the season, but added 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on six carries. Nate Frazier led all rushers for the second straight week, using 16 carries to chew up 72 yards. Noah Thomas caught a pair of touchdowns, giving him four in the past three games.

The Bulldogs won the toss and deferred to the second half. Texas, like most UGA opponents this season, drew first blood with a 13-play, 59-yard drive that stalled in the red zone. The Longhorns kicked the field goal to open the scoring at 3-0.

Nine plays later, Georgia answered. Stockton found Thomas for a 17-yard score and Peyton Woodrings PAT gave the Bulldogs a 7-3 lead.

After a Texas three-and-out, the Georgia offense stayed hot. Stockton hit Zachariah Branch over the middle, who turned it into a 30-yard pickup. It got the Bulldogs into the red zone and they made it count as Stockton found Thomas again for the score, this time from four yards out. The PAT put Georgia up 14-3.

Neither offense did much for the rest of the first half. Arch Manning was intercepted in Georgia territory, but the Bulldogs didn’t do anything with it. Georgia was able to cross midfield just once for the rest of the half.

Texas was the first team to score in the second half, too. Anthony Hill intercepted Stockton at the Georgia 36-yard line, and the Longhorns scored six plays later on a seven-yard toss from Manning to Ryan Wingo. They converted the PAT to make the score 14-10. It was all UGA after that.

Kirby Smart’s team responded with an impressive run. The Bulldogs converted a pair of fourth downs on the ensuing drive, one on a 10-yard pass to Chauncey Bowens and another by getting Texas to jump offsides on 4th and 5. Stockton capped off the drive with a 30-yard touchdown to London Humphreys. The PAT pushed Georgia’s lead to 21-10 and it quickly grew.

Smart green lighted an onside kick that Cash Jones recovered at the Georgia 47-yard line. The Bulldogs used nine plays to go 53 yards with Stockton finding Lawson Luckie, who played sparingly after sustaining a head injury last week, from six yards out. Woodring’s fourth PAT extended the lead to 28-10.

After forcing a Longhorn three-and-out, Georgia went back to work. Branch returned the punt 15 yards to give the Bulldogs a short field, and they found the end zone five plays later when Stockton ran it in from four yards out. Woodring’s PAT put Georgia up 35-10.

The Bulldogs went most of the way without the services of their best defensive player. CJ Allen was injured in the second quarter and did not return.

Georgia wraps up SEC play with a 7-1 record and is still in the hunt for the SEC Championship game. Next up is its final home game of the season, a 12:45 p.m. ET kickoff vs. Charlotte. It will serve as Senior Day for the Bulldogs.
