Georgia has started its climb back up in the polls following a 35-14 win over Kentucky on Saturday. The Bulldogs are now the No. 9 team in the latest American Football Coaches Association Coaches Poll released on Sunday.

Georgia dropped to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll after the 24-21 loss to Alabama from last week. The Bulldogs have taken a chunk of those spots back.

The Bulldogs rebounded with a dominant performance on Saturday. Georgia rolled up 425 yards of total offense while holding the Wildcats to 270 total yards. Gunner Stockton put up three touchdowns, two were rushing and 196 yards passing.

Georgia got 180 yards on the ground from a litany of ball carriers; Chauncey Bowens led the way with 70 yards on 15 carries.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart praised his team’s fast start on Saturday.

“Yeah, I was excited about our guys getting a fast start today,” Smart told reporters after the game. “I think that was the goal. It’s the goal every game, but to start early and start fast, I thought we had good energy on offense. I thought they had a good plan in terms of how to execute. Every time we play them, it’s really physical. It was physical again. It’s always going to be physical. I thought some players had some good individual performances.”

Georgia aided by some national upsets

Some chaos nationally moved a few teams down as well. Penn State suffered its second straight loss of the season after a loss to UCLA on Saturday.

Texas was beaten by Florida in ‘The Swamp’. The Longhorns were the No. 7 team in last week’s coaches poll. They took a tumble after Saturday’s loss.

Ohio State remains number one in the rankings. Oregon and Miami follow in second and third, respectively.

Georgia will hit the road to face Auburn on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
