Miami flips longtime Georgia four-star DB commit Jontavius Wyman

The Dawgs are down a 2026 pledge in the defensive backfield as of Saturday, as four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman opted to flip to the Miami Hurricanes.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 201 overall prospect in the On300 Industry Ranking, Wyman had been committed to the Bulldogs since late last July.
A product of Jonesboro, Georgia’s Jonesboro High School, he is the nation’s No. 19 overall cornerback and No. 26 prospect in the Peach State for the cycle.
“It’s so special because it’s from the home state and Georgia’s a great place,” Wyman told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson said prior to committing to Georgia. “Georgia stacks up a lot against the other programs. Their facilities, their academics and their resources all stand out. It’s also a great environment in Athens.”
On Saturday, however, Wyman was singing a different tune.
“I just felt like everything going on that’s the school I see myself playing at,” Wyman told On3’s Steve Wiltfong of the decision. “The culture, I love the coaches, facilities and how that program carries itself in general. The standard.”

His connection with Miami defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge was clear motivator.
“I feel like it’s going to be great being part of the program and being coached by him and some of the other great coaches,” Wyman told Wiltfong. “Coach Zac Etheridge, he’s been recruiting me for a minute. It’s going to be great playing under him.”
Georgia now has the commitment of only one defensive back for 2026 in four-star safety Zech Fort.
Currently, the Bulldogs have five pledges for the Class of 2026 after the loss of Jontavius Wyman. They are four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford, Fort, four-star tight end Lincoln Keyes, three-star wide receiver Brady Marchese, and three-star JUCO defensive lineman Seven Cloud. Georgia’s class is ranked as 20th in the nation per the On3 Industry Team Rankings.
