Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton has been placed in the double digits in a lot of preseason ‘Best quarterbacks in the SEC’ lists.

Stockton has already started one game for Georgia. He went 20-32 and put up 234 yards and a touchdown in Georgia’s loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl in January. Stockon also went 12-16 for 71 yards and an interception in Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC Championship Game.

Stockton came in for the injured Carson Beck after halftime and helped Georgia to the SEC championship. The love has not followed Stockton to the 2025 preseason.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has not named a starting quarterback for the 2025 season, but he did bring Stockton with him to SEC Media Days in Atlanta this week.

There seems to be some confidence in the rising junior. SEC Network Analyst and former Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers also expressed some confidence in Stockton.

Rodgers stated that Stockton’s talent has been a bit underappreciated. Stockton signed with Georgia as a four-star prospect, the No. 149 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings in the class of 2022.

“I just think people are really underestimating how talented Gunner Stockton actually is,” Rodgers said on SEC Network. “It’s probably because he sat behind Carson Beck, who is one of the most gifted throwers in the country last year. He (Stockton) is a dual-threat guy and a legitimate threat to run the football.”

Rodgers was on the radio broadcast for the Sugar Bowl and he was impressed by Stockton’s performance that night.

“He played good enough to win that game,” Rodger said.
