Georgia’s 2025 roster is set. The winter and spring transfer portal windows are closed and the Bulldogs have a really good idea about what their team will look like. Unlike last year, UGA isn’t viewed as a top three team going into the season. Due to NFL Draft losses at some key positions, Kirby Smart’s 10th team in Athens will have to prove it to many.

If it is going accomplish that, some guys are going to have to step up in their second seasons with the team. Below DawgsHQ continues with a series discussing each player who is going into their second year with the program. Next up is a guy who will serve as a key cog in the 2025 offense

RB Nate Frazier

Size: 5-foot-10 210 pounds

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 49 overall, No. 2 running back, No. 5 in California

2024 Stats: Frazier was Georgia’s leading rusher in 2024. He had 12 touches for 107 yards and a touchdown in his first career game. He went on to pile up 671 rushing yards yards and eight touchdowns on 133 carries.

Frazier’s strengths and weaknesses

We’ll start with the weaknesses where the California native struggled with ball security and patience during his freshman season. There was a playing-time lull in the middle portion of the year because Frazier was struggling to hold on to the football in practice. Those issues arose later on when he put a few balls on the ground, but those issues apparently improved this spring. Frazier also had a couple of drops on routine pass plays as a freshman.

The strengths are many. Frazier is really explosive and gets to top-end speed quickly. He runs with good vision and has excellent contact balance. His nose for the end zone is also strong. We’re also told that he put on several pounds of good muscle this offseason, which should make him a more powerful back.

The Buzz…

Frazier’s first spring at Georgia was solid. He improved his ball security and picked up where he left off at the end of last year. The added weight is a bonus and helped him become a better player between the tackles.

His contributions to the team reach further than just the way he carries the football. Frazier is a tone setter when it comes to energy and emotion. Sources tell DawgsHQ that, no matter the situation, he’s not afraid to speak up. He’s a positive presence in the locker room and on the field even if his emotions get the better of him at times.

In 2025…

Georgia’s offense will go as Frazier goes. The Bulldogs have a chance to be a big-play offense if they can get him going. Frazier did what he did in 2024 without a ton of help from the offensive line. The Bulldogs struggled up front despite being quite talented. They’re talented again in 2025 and the hope is that they’ll be able to stay healthy and open up holes for the sophomore playmaker.

If Georgia can get him in a groove early in the season, with more talent at wideout and an accurate deep-ball passer in Gunner Stockton, this team can go a long way. Frazier gives Georgia a chance to be more like some of the early teams Smart had success with in Athens — the ones where the tailback is the tip of the spear.
