The Gillion Academy (Va.) four-star center Marcis Ponder has landed an offer from the Indiana basketball program.

Ponder is the No. 67 overall player in the On3 Industry Rankings and the No. 7 center in the class.

Ponder is a 7-foot and 300-pound physical center who has been dominant in the DMV Live sessions this month. He’s averaged 15.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and shot 80 percent from the floor. He had six double-doubles across two weekends.

Indiana basketball assistant coach Kenny Johnson has been front and center for Ponder’s play both weekends. Johnson has been recruiting Ponder since he was at Georgetown.

“Marcis Ponder might be the most physically imposing player in the recruiting cycle,” On3 National Basketball Recruiting Analyst On3 wrote on his performance last weekend. “Listed at 6-foot-10, he has reshaped and built up his body to be a sturdy 280 pounds. With that physicality, he plays on both ends of the floor with a vicious mean streak.

“On multiple occasions, Ponder would rise up to dunk the basketball and leave the goal apparatus shaking for a good two or three minutes. He tries to break the rim each time he gets within five feet of the basket. He is going to have to continue staying on top of his conditioning, as well as extending his shooting touch. His sheer presence in the paint caused consistent issues for the opposing team.”

His four games this past weekend were:

Game One: 15 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks

Game Two: 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block

Game Three: 21 points, 18 rebounds

Game Four: 13 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks

Auburn, Arizona State, Miami, Kansas, Rutgers, Georgia, Georgetown, Florida State, Memphis, Maryland, Tennessee and others are involved in his recruitment. Purdue, Cincinnati, Northwestern are some of the new programs as well.

Marcis Ponder has visited Memphis and Providence this spring. He’s also unofficially visited Miami and Florida State.
